Background
The thesis award is granted each year for the best PhD thesis in the area of Biophysics and Biomedical Engineering.
Award
The award consists of a certificate and a prize of €2024 to be spent at the laureate's wish.
Judgment
The research will be judged on the basis of:
Candidacy
Candidates have obtained their PhD degree at a Dutch university, on research in the area of Biophysics and Biomedical Engineering. The PhD ceremony must be between August 1, 2023, and August 1, 2024. The candidate, or his (co)–promotor, must be a member of the Society. The candidate is obliged to present his/her work at the Dutch Biophysics on October 7 and 8, 2024. A submission consists of a link to a pdf version of the thesis, to be sent by e-mail to: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
In addition, the candidate must submit a motivation letter of at most 1 A4, describing why his/her work is important, and why it deserves this award. The list of candidates will not be made public.
Jury
The jury will be appointed by the board of the Society.
Time schedule
Candidates must submit their thesis before July 8, 2024. The winner will be notified before September 5th, 2024.
The award ceremony is planned to take place at the Dutch Biophysics conference, Veldhoven, NL, on Monday October 7th, 2024.
